This was our first full day in Vancouver, which was completely free for the participants. Everyone was still recovering from their jetlag and so we were all awake quite early. Some went running early and others tried to get some more sleep.
A large portion of the group rented bikes for the day and went to discover the city centre. Stanley Park with its beautiful view of the ocean was visited by most. Large groups of people also went to visit China Town and Gas Town with its Steam Clock. Granville Island was found to be a great place to get lunch.
A group of six people took a 2-hour bus ride to Whistler Blackcomb, which is one of the most famous ski and mountain biking parks in the world. Here some went hiking, while others went up the mountain to go mountain biking. The Olympic village was also discovered at the end of the day.
For dinner most people tried a bit of authentic Asian or Canadian cuisine or went to get a quick bite. This concluded the day for a large portion of participants, who tried to get some sleep to recover from their jetlag. Other went to discover the craft beer culture at a local craft beer pub, which featured over 100 beers. This concluded our first tiresome day in Vancouver.
